Ang Haligi ng ating mga tahanan.

It was a one-time commemoration and not an annual holiday, but on July 5, 1908, a church in West Virginia sponsored the nation's first event explicitly in honor of fathers. This event was a Sunday sermon in memory of the 362 men who had died in the explosions at the Fairmont Coal Company mines in Monongah the previous December. The explosions had occurred the previous year in December. The next year, a woman from Spokane, Washington called Sonora Smart Dodd, who was one of six children raised by a widower, attempted to establish an official counterpart to Mother's Day for male parents. Sonora Smart Dodd was one of the children. She went around to local churches, the YMCA, shops, and government officials to get support for her plan, and she was successful in doing so: on June 19, 1910, Washington State celebrated the nation's first statewide Father's Day celebration.

On Father's Day, we recognize and honor the significant role that dads play, not just in their own families but also in society as a whole. On this particular day, young people have the opportunity to express gratitude to their biological dads, father figures, and anybody else who has been significant in their development as a person. It might be a mental or emotional burden, or even a financial one. Many people in the Philippines celebrate Father's Day by giving presents to men in their life who have played a "fatherly" role in their lives, whether that be their biological father, grandpa, uncle, brother, stepfather, or even a male acquaintance. On the big day, honoring Dad with cards, sweets, picnics, or a lunch at a restaurant are all traditional ways to show your appreciation.

Fathers act strict and disciplined to teach children how to live in the real world. Both moms and fathers play an essential role in their child's overall health and development. They assist boost one's self-esteem and give both physical and mental consolation during difficult situations. Fathers are responsible for ensuring that their offspring lead happy and secure lives. Because our parents did so much together to birth us into this world and shape who we are today through our development, we owe it to them to show them the very same level of love and respect that they show us.
