The Battle of Bataan, Bataan has fallen

The siege of Bataan was the United States' first major land fight of World War II, and it was one of the most humiliating military disasters in American history. The force on Bataan, with 76,000 Filipino and American men, is the biggest army ever surrendered under American leadership. On April 9, Filipinos around the country commemorate the Day of Valor, also known as "Araw ng Kagitingan." From December 8, 1941, to September 2, 1945, the Philippines was a part of World War II. Bataan served as the nation's defensive hub during the four-year conflict. The fall of Bataan occurred on April 9, 1942.

On April 9, 1942, Army Major General Edward P. King surrendered to Japanese General Masaharu Homma, ending the Battle of Bataan. POWs included around 12,000 Americans and 63,000 Filipinos. After then, the Bataan Death March began, which was one of the bloodiest catastrophes in contemporary history.                        The Importance of the Bataan Death of this engagement in March was that it slowed the Japanese march through the Philippines. During World War I, the Japanese forcibly marched about 76, 000 allied soldiers from the Philippines and America across the Bataan Peninsula, a distance estimated to be 80 miles. The intention of commemorating Araw ng Kagitingan is to remember Bataan and the brave troops who gave their lives for our nation.

  2. Yes, we must remember the brave troops who gave their lines for our country. We Filipinos will never forget what they have done during that battle because they showed us how to be a good citizen in our country. Remembering them will give honor to their families.
